Cognium Systems SA is a French start-up founded in 2005 as a spin-off from Institut Pasteur, France. Its focus is development and commercialization of innovative software based on Semantic Web technologies. 

Its first product, a Semantic Electronic Laboratory Notebook for biomedical researchers, was launched in March 2008 and is in use at hundreds of research laboratories across the world. The main focus of Cognium's current R&D is a social messaging system called BounceIt. On the one hand, BounceIt uses social networks to filter and manage information, and on the other hand, it uses information exchange to automatically construct and enrich social networks. BounceIt was launched in June 2009. 

Cognium Systems has also consulted other companies in social media marketing strategies.
